An Easy Kief Butter Recipe – Here’s How You Make It

Before diving straight into the recipe, it’s useful to understand what kief even is for those that aren’t aware. After you’re done grinding up your cannabis, you’ll notice tiny crystal trichomes leftover. This is known as kief. A lot of multi-chambered grinders come with a kief collector built-in, and that makes it very easy to collect your kief if you like using it for cooking. Some things you can make with kief are hash, twax joints, and kief butter.

The nice thing about kief butter is that it tastes just like butter. There are many canna-butter recipes scattered around on the internet that result in butter that doesn’t take like butter. It actually tastes the way it does due to the chlorophyll concentration in it being lower in comparison to canna-butter. The process doesn’t take very long, either. So, if you’re trying to figure out how to use kief, why not give this kief butter recipe a try?

How To Make Kief Butter

There are a couple of things you’ll need to get started:

  • About one gram of kief cannabis
  • 1 cup of butter (it doesn’t matter if it’s salted or not)
  • A container that’s safe to put into the oven
  • Saucepan
  • Spatula

Here are the steps:

  • As with all edible recipes, you’ll need to decarboxylate your kief. This involves heating the kief to convert the THCA to THC. To do that, all you have to do is pop the kief into a container and then put it in the oven. The oven should be 300 degrees Fahrenheit, and you’ll want to leave your kief in there for around 45 minutes to an hour.
  • After that, remove it from the oven and give it a chance to cool off.
  • Get your cup of butter and then put it into a saucepan.
  • Once the butter starts to simmer, add the kief into the saucepan.
  • Begin stirring the kief into the butter until you start to see it fully dissolve.

Voila, you have now successfully made kief butter. If you don’t think you’ll be able to consume it all, you can place some of it in the freezer for later use.
