About Sangiovese

A cross of GMO and Brandywine, Sangiovese is a cross-bred hybrid.

THC and potency

Public lab results give a good picture of its strength: 85 flower samples tested between 2020 and 2023 came in at a median of 25.7% total THC (the middle half ranged from 22.5% to 28.7%). CBD is typically negligible (under 0.5%). That puts it at the strong end of the market, so newer consumers should start low. Potency varies by grower and batch, so always check the label.

Aroma, flavour and terpenes

In lab tests its dominant terpene is caryophyllene, followed by limonene and humulene. Caryophyllene is known for black pepper and warm spice, while limonene adds bright citrus-peel freshness. Total terpene content measured a median of 1.2%.
