There is no doubt that rappers smoking weed is almost synonymous with that culture, and a lot of rappers aren’t shy about admitting their use of it.

Have you ever seen or heard about rappers smoking weed? There are quite a few of them out there that are open and  vocal about their cannabis use, and if your curiosity is sparked, read on to find out who does.

1) 2 Chainz

2 Chainz, real name Tauheed Epps, is well known for his affinity to smoke weed. He openly discusses that he started selling drugs at a young age as a means of making money and got caught up in gangs and other illegal activities.

In an interview with MTV news, he spoke about his time in prison, saying, “I had four years to sit back and learn about myself. It’s crazy because it wasn’t something I wanted to do but I had to do.” Later on in his life, however, he decided to follow a different path by getting into music; since then he has gone on tour with artists like Lil Wayne and Drake among others.

2) Wiz Khalifa

Wiz Khalifa might be a rapper, but his fondness for weed is apparent in all of his lyrics. When he was arrested for weed possession and admitted to smoking multiple times per day, there was no denying it.

His love for marijuana has caused him some trouble on stage, too. The police caught him with marijuana in England during a tour there and had to cancel some shows as a result. The pop star has also been criticized by other musicians like Snoop Dogg because of his close relationship with Taylor Gang Records (founded by producer Charlie Mack).

This company is said to push Wiz’ music at their live events and pressure young artists who perform with them into signing record deals.

3) Tech N9ne

Tech N9ne is not shy about his love for cannabis. The rapper has been open about using and enjoying marijuana for a long time, despite it being illegal in Kansas City (where he is from) and Missouri.

In fact, Tech N9ne was arrested in 2016 on drug charges, including possession of marijuana and weed paraphernalia. The prosecution declined to press charges though because of a technicality with how it was handled.

4) Rick Ross

Ross is well known for his love of marijuana. Whether it’s his candy-flavored strain with LivWell or songs like Smokin’ (feat. T-Pain) with Akon, Ross is notorious for toking up on his own time and being vocal about it in public settings.

It doesn’t seem to have affected his career any, as he has five top 40 hits as of 2013 and had eight in 2012 alone. He also won a Grammy in 2011 for Best Rap Album, though it’s worth noting that while he was nominated again in 2013, he didn’t make it back on stage to collect another trophy.

5) Tyga

Tyga is a rapper from California who has multiple Grammy nominations and number one albums to his name. In 2012, Tyga released Careless World: Rise of The Last King; it was nominated for Best Rap Album at both Billboard Music Awards and BET Hip Hop Awards.

He’s been featured in the top charts with Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Justin Bieber, Jadakiss, Nicki Minaj, and T-Pain.

6) French Montana

More often than not, French Montana’s name comes up when discussing rappers who are marijuana enthusiasts. The rapper from Morocco, France has gained recognition in Hollywood and even was referenced in Nicki Minaj’s single Anaconda.

It is well known that he uses marijuana, but French Montana doesn’t like to talk about it much. He doesn’t want his audience to think that he only raps about smoking weed.

7) Drake

In 2012, Drake was charged with criminal possession of marijuana. He was caught with 4 ounces of pot at a popular Manhattan music studio, and despite his insistence that he simply forgot it was in his backpack when cops approached him, he still spent a night in jail.

A year later, he told Rolling Stone magazine he didn’t mind being arrested as it gave him more time to work on his music: “I just wish they would have taken me to Rikers [Island jail complex] or something, Drake said. “That’s what I’m here for: I make music.”

Since then, Drake has earned respect from marijuana enthusiasts across America for singing about his love of weed over several songs on various albums like Nothing Was The Same and Take Care.

8) Snoop Dogg

The Doggfather has long been one of hip-hop’s most outspoken proponents of marijuana. His lyrics are filled with weed references, and he even founded his own line of cannabis products called Leafs by Snoop.

Recently, Snoop joined forces with another well-known cannabis advocate in rapper/entrepreneur/activist Rick Ross to launch a new venture, as High Times reports: Snoop Dogg has joined with rapper and entrepreneur The Game as an investor in a marijuana business incubator in California called Altered Plates.

To be able to have Snoop Dogg involved is just a dream come true for many people. Despite these moves into business, it doesn’t seem that Snoop’s passion for smoking pot has waned.

9) Kurupt

Not many rappers talk about their love of marijuana on their actual records, but Kurupt is one of them. The Dogg Pound rapper has made quite a name for himself over the years because of his huge appetite for smoking cannabis.

In fact, Kurupt has said that he can’t even remember recording some of his verses because he was too high. It’s hard to argue with him though as he is still going strong today, over 20 years after first releasing his debut album in 1993.

Since then, Kurupt’s been able to collect a great deal of fame and cash because of his enormous talent in rapping and selling weed.

10) Berner

This rapper/pothead has been rapping about weed for almost a decade now, and he’s still releasing new music. Berner has never failed to smoke on tracks, from songs with Snoop Dogg like Hands in Da Air and Wiz Khalifa on his latest single Tranquillo.

He also starred in a documentary called What Now? which was an official selection at both Sundance Film Festival and South by Southwest film festival.

Although not a household name like other rappers such as Rick Ross or Wiz Khalifa, Berner is slowly getting more recognition after playing an extra in The Big Lebowski who lives next door to John Goodman and Jeff Bridges characters.
