Edibles dosing can be a little confusing for new cannabis users or for those that aren’t overly familiar with how it works, and it’s quite important to learn.

The most popular way to consume cannabis is by smoking it. This can be done by rolling a joint or pipe or mixing the herb with tobacco and rolling it into cigar papers.

There are also many other methods of consuming cannabis, including vaping, eating edibles, drinking beverages, and using tinctures.

Vaping has grown in popularity as a safe alternative to smoking. It’s healthier because it doesn’t produce smoke, which contains tar and carcinogens.

Edibles are often made with cannabis-infused butter or oil, but there are other forms of edibles as well. In many areas throughout Canada, you can buy cookies, brownies, cakes, and ice cream that contain marijuana.

You can also purchase cannabis beverages. Cannabis beverages include sodas, beer, and coffee drinks — all made with cannabis products such as THC oil or CBD oil (cannabidiol).

How To Dose With Edibles

When it comes to eating cannabis, it’s important to know your dose.

If you’re new to edibles, we recommend starting with a low dose like 5 mg of THC or less. This is because it can take up to two hours for the effects of edibles to kick in, which means you may not feel the effects right away. And if you eat more than you need, the experience could be overwhelming or unpleasant.

To start with, try eating half of what’s recommended on the label, and wait at least an hour before consuming more. You’ll get a better sense of how much you need and whether it’s working for you. You can always eat more later if needed.

What Is A Low Dose Of Edibles?

Low doses of weed edibles are a good way to introduce yourself to the effects of marijuana. They’re also good for people who want to get high but don’t want to be too far out of it.

Low doses are recommended for those who are new to cannabis, and especially those who have never smoked before. The effects should be mild and easy to manage.

If you’re used to smoking weed, you may want a higher dose than someone who has never smoked before.

The common wisdom is to start with a low dose and work your way up. There is no universal answer to this, as everyone’s body chemistry and metabolism is different.

A good rule of thumb is 5-10mg per 10lbs of body weight. So, if you weigh 150lbs, you should start with a dose of 7.5 – 15mg.

If you want to try edibles but want to make sure you don’t overdo it, we suggest starting with a low dose by taking 1/4 of your recommended dose and waiting 30 minutes before eating more. If you feel comfortable with the effects at this point, then keep going!

What Is A MicroDose Of Edibles?

A microdose of weed edibles is a very small amount of THC that you can eat or drink. These small doses are often used to treat anxiety, depression, provide pain relief, help improve relaxation, increase concentration, and assist in other mood disorders.

Many people use marijuana as an alternative to prescription medications to treat these conditions because it can be much safer than many medications on the market.

How Do You Take A Microdose Of Weed?

There are several ways to take a microdose of weed:

Smoke it – You can smoke cannabis in joints, pipes, bongs, or blunts. You can also use a vaporizer to inhale the active ingredients in the plant without burning it.

Inhale it – There are two types of inhalants that you can use to get high: dabbing and vaping (which are both forms of vaporizing). Vaping involves heating up concentrated marijuana extract so that it evaporates into an inhalable vapor. Dabbing is similar to vaping but uses different equipment and produces more potent effects than other methods of smoking cannabis.

Ingesting it – The most common way people ingest marijuana is by eating or drinking food products containing THC oil or CBD oil extractions from the plant. These products come in all kinds of forms including cookies, brownies, candies, lollipops, and other methods.

What Is Standard Edibles Dosing?

The standard edibles dosing in Canada is 10mg of THC per serving. This means that if you’re eating a chocolate bar that has 100mg of THC in it, it’ll have 10 servings. Each one will contain 1mg of THC.

If you’re wondering how many milligrams are in your edible, look at the packaging to find out how many servings there are. Divide the total milligrams by the number of servings to know how much each serving contains. For example, if you have an edible with 100mg of THC and it says there are 10 servings, each serving will have 10mg of THC.

How Long Will It Take Before I’m High?

Edibles can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours to kick in. Because edibles are processed through the liver, they have a much slower effect than smoking or vaporizing cannabis.

The amount of time it takes for an edible to kick in depends on a few different factors:

  • How fast your body metabolizes THC. If you already have a high tolerance, it could take longer for the effects to be felt.
  • How much THC is in your edible. The more THC, the longer it takes for you to feel its effects.
  • How you consume your edible — eating or drinking it will likely slow down its absorption into your bloodstream compared to smoking or vaping.

Eating an edible means that consuming more than one at once will probably cause you to experience stronger effects because they’re all being processed by your liver at once (instead of one at a time).

What Should I Do If I Consume Too Many Edibles?

If you’re new to edibles, it can be easy to overdo it. The effects of edibles can be intense, and if you’re not careful they could lead to an uncomfortable experience.

If you’ve eaten too many edibles, here’s what to do:

  1. Stay calm. Edibles can take up to two hours to take effect, so the worst thing you can do is panic. Take deep breaths and try to relax until the effects wear off.
  2. Drink water or eat something sweet (but not another edible!). Edibles can cause dry mouth and dehydration, so drinking water or eating a piece of fruit will help rehydrate you.
  3. Wait until the worst of the high passes before doing anything else — especially driving.
  4. If your symptoms are severe or last longer than four hours after eating an edible (or six hours if they’re severe), call 911 or go to the emergency room immediately. Also seek medical attention if you notice any changes in vision, memory loss, or impaired motor skills that aren’t typical side effects of using marijuana.

Edibles Dosing: Final Thoughts

Edibles dosing can be a bit of a tricky task at first, but over time and through experimentation, you’ll be able to figure out which dose works for you depending on how high you want to get.
