Medical Marijuana Caregivers Association of El Dorado County (MMCA) incorporated in January, 2004, as a nonprofit corporation to provide medical marijuana to qualified patients according to the guidance of California Senate Bill 420 which was intended to clarify implementation of Proposition 215. As a collective, MMCA provided the full spectrum of medical cannabis products through in-house production along with help and advice for the medical needs of our members. Most importantly as a collective, MMCA offered a safe and secure venue for our members to associate with other patients.
Now, with the passage of Proposition 64, the Adult Use of Marijuana Act, in 2016 we can no longer freely associate onsite and due to compliance with the new licensing requirements of the Bureau of Cannabis Control, MMCA has had to step back from producing products in-house and offer a cultivated selection of compliant products.
Last November, El Dorado County voters approved moving forward with full adult recreational cultivation and retail sales. Licensing may be available later this year and MMCA will seek to return to it’s full capacity as a local source for quality crafted cannabis products.
