Lighting up and getting high with buddies is fun and all, but nothing beats being couch-locked in front of a good movie that just doesn’t seem to end. There isn’t really any fun in just sitting around doing nothing, or watching movies that really aren’t all that great. Maybe there two boring, or have so much detail it’s hard to keep up. Regardless, we’ve put together a list of 20 movies you need to watch when stoned out of your mind. Watching one of these movies the next time you light up needs to be on your bucket list.
Inception (2010)
Inception is the type of movies that messes with your mind and takes you on a journey when you’re sober. Being high on the other hand is an entirely different story. Adding the euphoric daydreaming of your high with Inception is an event so thrilling many people have trouble going back to watching it while lucid.
The Matrix Trilogy (1999 – 2003)
Of course, we had to add the Matrix. Nothing is more of a mind melt than thinking about how we could all be in a simulation. Let your stoned out mind wrap around that a few times and you’ll be good to go.
Anchorman (2004)
A favorite among potheads everywhere, most cannot get enough of the jazz flute. Get ready for some uncontrollable giggles and the urge to watch the evening news.
Animal House (1978)
A storyline so dramatic and dynamic you’ll be captivated for hours after your high ends. Not to mention Donald Sutherland plays a fairly important role, although somewhat explicit in nature. Perfect for most potheads.
Interstellar (2014)
Most people found this movie hard to understand when completely sober and lucid, so watching it while stoned should be super interesting. Not to mention a little sad. Get ready to experience the confusing perspectives of gravity and time in a way you never have before.
The Big Lebowski (1998)
What’s better than to sit back and get stoned, while watching a fellow stoner do hilarious things on your television set!
Fight Club (1999)
A storyline so intense and intriguing you’ll rewatch it 17 times. That’s a guarantee.
Dude, Where’s My Car (2000)
This particular movie is terrible but terrible in a good way. It may be difficult to watch this movie at all if you’re not stoned in the first place.
Oblivion (2013)
A storyline is so good you’ll be re-enacting it in your head all night. Not to mention Tom Cruise is definitely an asset.
Dazed and Confused (1993)
A movie so relatable you won’t believe it’s fiction.
Up In Smoke (1978)
Marijuana hasn’t always been legal. Learn about the origin of weed and everything weed culture represents.
Ted (2012)
Do we really have to explain why? Just the fact that a talking Teddy Bear is present should be enough.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
It takes a special kind of mindset to understand and enjoy this movie. Thankfully, that means being high out of your mind!
